The Accrediting Bodies Association for Workplace Transport (ABA) have released an updated Basic Operating Skills Test for pedestrian and rider pallet trucks (categories A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A6 & A7).

Taking into account feedback from a variety of stakeholders, including the HSE, the standards have been revised to produce a test more tailored to the modern working environment, employers & industry.

The changes bring the Category A standards more closely in line with those of the recently updated B and D category trucks, including the use of mandatory theory questions and failures within the practical test.

The new standards must be in use by anyone delivering training under ABA member accrediting bodies from 1st December 2019. We will implement this ahead of time so you can be assured that any training carried out by Mentor, or test sheets purchased from this date will meet the new standards.

In another change to the A category, the A8 (rider) stand on reach truck is to be rebranded as D3, effective immediately. Please contact your accrediting body for the testing standards for D3 trucks.
