We’ve launched a brand new Safety Harness & VNA Rescue course to provide operators a safe method of evacuation from trucks stuck in aisles at height.
Created in response to demand, the course prepares operators for a ‘basket to basket’ escape into a rescue vehicle, should their truck break down in an aisle with the forks in a load or racking, preventing the cab from lowering safely to the ground.
The course is split into two parts, the first ensuring that the operator understands how to check, fit and use safety harnesses and lanyards, the second part focussing on applying these skills during the rescue procedure, to ensure operator safety throughout the manoeuvre. (For safety, all training is conducted at ground level, to enable full supervision and instruction to be given and safe practices observed.)
Mentor has long provided VNA operator training nationwide and this course was developed in response to many requests for VNA-specific rescue training. Enabling the safe, secure and efficient transfer of the operator from ‘basket to basket’, the course provides an alternative, more straightforward form of rescue to the ‘abseiling’ method, that involves the operator lowering themselves from the machine to the ground by means of ropes and a harness.
