We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Adam Smith as our new Managing Director, with Stuart Taylor moving into the role of Chief Executive as part of the company’s long-term succession plan.

Adam, who previously held the position of Commercial Director, will lead the business as we continue to support organisations across the UK with high-quality material handling equipment training. Stuart led Mentor Training for the past 12 years and will remain actively involved in the business, working alongside Adam and the Senior Leadership Team.

Stuart Taylor said: “Following a period of careful strategic planning, Adam will be stepping into the role of Managing Director, while I move into the position of Chief Executive. This planned transition builds on the strength of the business we’ve developed and will help ensure continuity for our customers, colleagues and partners.”

Commenting on his appointment, Adam said, “I’m delighted to be taking on the role of Managing Director at Mentor Training. It is a particularly special appointment for me, as my own career in the industry started at Mentor almost 20 years ago. Since then, I’ve gained experience across different parts of the materials handling and training industry, before returning to the business in 2022 as Commercial Director. I’m looking forward to bringing that experience into my new role.”

“Stuart has made a significant contribution to the business over the past 12 years, building a strong reputation and a solid foundation for future growth. I’m looking forward to building on that work alongside our talented team.”

“Maintaining the quality of our training and helping businesses create safer working environments will remain central to everything we do. We also want to continue developing our services to make training more accessible, flexible and cost-effective for our customers.”

The leadership change will not affect our commitment to delivering high-quality, industry-recognised training. We will continue working with relevant accrediting bodies and industry associations to support quality and consistency across its courses.

As part of our ongoing development, we’re also exploring ways to improve how material handling equipment training is delivered, including through blended learning.

Our blended learning courses combine practical, face-to-face training with online eTheory modules that learners can complete at their own pace. This approach offers greater flexibility for learners and can help businesses reduce operational downtime and manage training costs more effectively.

Adam said, “We’re continually looking at how we can improve the training experience for both learners and employers. Blended learning is one example of how we can combine practical instruction with flexible online learning to help businesses meet their training needs.”

“Our focus is on making high-quality training as accessible as possible while continuing to promote safe working practices. I’m excited to lead the business as we build on our existing strengths and explore new ways to deliver value for our customers.”

Throughout the transitional period, we remain committed to delivering the reliable, high-quality material handling equipment training that our customers have come to know and trust, while upholding our established reputation for flexibility, quality and workplace safety.
