Mentor is launching a full blended learning package for forklift operator training that combines online theory with instructor-led practical, reducing customer downtime and costs.

The adoption of online learning marks the first significant change in forklift training delivery for over 50 years, remaining largely unchanged since 1976, when the framework for accredited forklift training was established. While this training remains essential as ever, the new approach challenges traditional delivery methods, providing significant time and cost-saving benefits, without compromising crucial quality standards.

Our blended learning courses combine online eTheory modules with in-person practical training, allowing delegates to complete the theoretical element at their own pace, wherever and whenever suits them. Rather than being regulated by the pace of a classroom session, delegates can work through the content in line with their individual learning needs.

For employers, as well as seeing an average cost saving of up to 20% per course, moving the theory element online minimises operational disruption. With this completed in advance, those choosing the blended route for their novice and experienced operators can save a full day’s instructor-led training, aiding productivity and also improving availability for courses.

Adam Smtih, our Director, said, “We believe blended learning is the future for our industry, enabling essential training to be delivered more efficiently.”

“We’re bringing together flexible online learning and vital hands-on practical experience, while ensuring booking remains easy for our customers. As the only provider to offer a full blended learning package from one supplier, from start to finish, we keep the process simple, from initial enquiry to the receipt of delegates’ digital certificates.”

We have made a substantial investment, not only in developing its eTheory courses, but in the infrastructure behind them, creating a straightforward digital journey for customers and giving them greater visibility of the training process.

Adam adds, “In modern businesses, employees are becoming more and more familiar with digital learning for other forms of workplace training, and, like these courses, our eTheory modules, which can be completed on a laptop, phone or tablet, can fit more naturally into delegates’ working schedules. Plus, this method of theory training has the added advantage of giving businesses live digital visibility of progress and records.”

We are inviting businesses and individuals within the industry to experience the new approach for themselves at an upcoming open day, where attendees will be able to try the eTheory element and gain real insight into the streamlined training journey, as well as take part in other engaging activities.

Adam added, “We’re inviting businesses to experience the future of forklift training first-hand. Once they see it for themselves, we’re confident they’ll see the value for their own operations.”
