The Accrediting Bodies Association for workplace transport (ABA) has issued a new Associated Knowledge test standard for Counterbalance and Reach Truck operators.
The test, which previously included five open written questions, has undergone a change that sees these replaced with five multiple selection questions.
This update will help to make the test more inclusive and allow it to better assess operator competence. The new approach will also offer more support to the needs of any neurodiverse learners and those facing potential language barriers.
The new test standard will become mandatory from 1st March 2025 for all organisations accredited by ABA member bodies. As AITT accredited excellence providers, we believe it’s important to be at the forefront of the improvements, so Mentor have implemented this ahead of time, and it is now taking place on all Counterbalance and Reach training courses.
Our Commercial Director, Adam Smith, said, “I am pleased that the changes will have a positive effect for learners that face potential barriers outside of their control. We have everything in place in line with the latest update, meaning we can provide our customers complete assurance that all testing continues to adhere to relevant standards, ahead of the deadline date.”
